ODOT wants you! We are recruiting for a transportation maintenance manager. This position provides supervision to our bridge and maintenance crew as they accomplish projects to maintain our state highways and to help keep Oregon roads safe. Apply today!
 
You must be a current State of Oregon employee in a permanent, seasonal, or limited duration position to be eligible for this position (temporary employees not eligible).

The majority of the work performed by the person in this position will be performed in the Eastern Oregon Border Economic Region.

A day in the life:
  • Develop and manage budget and work calendar. 
  • Perform inspections of the transportation system, investigate problems and carry out solutions.
  • Evaluate performance of crew members and ensure they are working safely with the proper training, equipment, and gear.
  • Serve as a local ODOT contact with the public, law enforcement, media and local government officials.
  • Manage difficult negotiations with the public when clearing accident scenes and address complaints.
  • Review serious crash situations and serve as a member of the multi-agency crash team. 
  • Manage the winter maintenance and operations program to ensure adequate staffing and resources are available.
  • Serve as a member of the district management team and work with other maintenance sections in the district.
  • Monitor permitted activity within the highway right of way for safety issues and compliance with permits.
  • Manage fleet equipment assigned to the maintenance section.  
  • Be on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week including holidays.
  • Often work in all weather conditions, heavy traffic conditions and may work around hazardous materials.

 What we need:
Five years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience.
  
OR
Two years of related experience and a bachelor's degree in a related field.
 
This position requires a maximum 30-minute response time to 541 Stanton Blvd., Ontario, OR 97914 for emergency callouts.
 
Employee will be required to use a commercial motor vehicle to conduct business. You must possess a current, valid commercial driver's license A (CDL-A) with a tanker endorsement, and no air brake restrictions, OR have the ability to acquire one within 90 days of hire (ODOT will cover training and costs) to be considered eligible for this position. A valid driver license and an acceptable driving record are required for this position. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks, including Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Clearinghouse registration and full query check for our final candidate(s) and annual query for current employees.
