Job Description:

Project Inspector – Transportation Engineer 2
Seattle, WA – Northwest Region
$66,377 - $89,271 Annually
Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is currently seeking two Transportation Engineer 2’s to serve as Project Inspectors for the SR 520 Bridge Replacement and Alaskan Viaduct Replacement Program (AWV). The SR 520 Bridge Replacement and HOV Program (SR 520) and Alaskan Way Viaduct Replacement Program (AWV) are highly visible, political, controversial, and complex multi-billion-dollar capital construction programs that report directly to the Assistant Secretary for Urban Mobility and Access at WSDOT. These are the largest mega programs in WSDOT, consisting of multiple major projects in various phases of development, stretching from I-5 to I-405 on SR 520 and through the City of Seattle from the SODO District to South Lake Union on SR 99, and along Alaskan Way on the Seattle Waterfront.

These positions will assist in the inspection of construction projects and assure compliance with contract plans, specifications, interagency agreements, and environmental permits. This work includes preparing calculations and notes to support and initiate payment to the contractor for completed work, completing daily field reports, taking and filing project photos documenting construction work and issues, providing clarification of contract requirements to the contractor and subcontractors, and providing answers to their questions. Types of work inspected and documented include HMA and concrete roadway, sidewalk, traffic control, storm, electrical, foundations, retaining walls, bridge construction, landscape, and utilities. These positions are vital to ensuring the contract is followed and recorded properly.
