Job descriptionWe are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer for a full-time position in our Toronto office. The incumbent will work under the supervision of senior leaders and with design team members, clients, and others on various projects.
The main responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to:- Prepare design calculations and design briefs for equipment
- Prepare design sketches for lighting/power/security/IT building systems
- Participate in field engineering assignments
- Develop data analytics tools for engineering projects
- Review of vendor drawings to ensure conformity with engineering designs equipment sizing
- Coordination with other engineering disciplines to ensure the accuracy of design, and the timely flow of information throughout the project
- Develop and recommend improvements in design standards and improve work quality
Qualifications & Education Requirements:
- A baccalaureate degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited 4-year institution
- Understanding of the construction industry specific to electrical building systems; and a desire to perform design engineering
- Minimum of 3-5 years professional experience
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to communicate thoughts and technical ideas in an accessible way, both verbally and in writing.
- Strong computer skills including understanding of data analytics
- Experience with 2D and 3D design tools (AutoCAD/Revit) would be considered an asset
- Bilingual (French/English) would be considered an asset
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Strong Analytical and quantitative skills, and a demonstrated capability for analysis, problem solving and strategic thinking
- Strong initiative—the willingness and ability to succeed in a collaborative, team-based environment
- Ability to manage time appropriately and multi-task with multiple projects in order to meet deadlines
