Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is currently seeking a Transportation Engineer 2 to serve as the Assistant Materials Engineer in Seattle, WA. This position reviews materials documentation submitted, determines appropriate action needed, and follow established processes. The Assistant Materials Engineer checks all materials documentation against contract requirements and maintains and monitors the working Record of Materials. This position also identifies and documents material variances and will assist the Materials Engineer in the development and preparation of the Materials Certification Package. As a tester, the incumbent will collect materials samples used on WSDOT projects and proficiently perform a variety of testing both in the field and the lab. This position performs fired testing of earthwork, HMA, Concrete, Grout, Geotextiles and Aggregates. This position ensures accurate testing, sampling, and proper use of the testing equipment, and adherence to the established procedures.
