Salary Range:  $7,015 - $10,883
 
The role:  
We are recruiting for a senior traffic engineer to join our team in La Grande! In this role, you will monitor and direct the work of our Traffic Operations Unit and will support our region and district management and local agencies on various traffic-related topics and analyses. You will also provide services related to the operations and maintenance of state highways and for the development of capital outlay projects within the region. Apply today!

A day in the life:
  • Provide technical guidance to consultant design teams.
  • Provide owner role duties associated with consultant related access management.
  • Provide owner role in review of access management engineering.
  • Serve as primary point of contact for all access management engineering project resourcing.
  • Direct and accept work activities of the region and district staff.
  • Review and approve plans for conformity with design standards.
  • Establish and monitor access management budgets and schedules.
  • Develop short term and long range plans for the region based on results and identified needs.
  • Act as an expert witness in court cases affecting region traffic operations.
  • Deal directly with local government to inform or answer inquiries relating to traffic issues.
  • Work requires long hours, night meetings that may require overnight lodging and being on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week including holidays.
  • Duties involve exposure to traffic hazards.

What we need:
A valid professional engineer's (PE) license in civil, structural, or transportation-related engineering and three (3) years of journey level professional engineer experience.
Note: If registered in another state, successful applicants will be required to obtain professional registration within six months of hire.
 
Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.
