Salary Range: $5,772 - $8,951
 
The role:  
Join our team and provide surveying services and assistance to the Region 1 Technical Center and the Project Delivery Program. The project surveyor plays a critical role in providing quality survey deliverables to design teams. You will put your professional survey license to work, managing survey operations at a project level, including field, mapping, modeling, cadastral and right of way engineering tasks (legal descriptions, etc.).

A day in the life:
  • Develop topographic base maps and Digital Terrain Models using Computer Aided Drafting software.
  • Perform Quality Assurance and Quality Control reviews, processes and procedures.
  • Process and reduce field survey data.
  • Perform quality reviews of processed data.
  • Create work products for delivery to internal and external users.
  • Provide assistance and training to field crews and serve as a technical resource on Project Development Teams.
  • Prepare and review base maps from field surveyed data.
  • Develop Right of Way base maps by researching deeds, land sales contracts, County Assessor’s maps, subdivision plats, ODOT drawings, railroad Right of Way maps, county surveys, road dedications and road vacations.
  • Apply project design elements.
  • Evaluate Right of Way needs to accommodate project construction and define boundaries of additional properties.
  • Communicate with Project Managers, Designers, Right of Way agents, and others regarding matters pertaining to Right of Way mapping and Right of Way acquisition.
  • Use professional judgment and expertise to write legal descriptions of real properties that conform to Right of Way drawings.
  • Complete complex calculations using both manual methods and sophisticated surveying computer software.

 What we need:
 A valid Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license.
  • NOTE: If registered in another state, successful applicants will be required to obtain comity within six months of hire.
     
  • Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.

  • Experience drafting and field operations on property and transportation related survey projects.
  • Experience managing, evaluating and processing field data for completeness and accuracy and resolve any issues.
  • Experienced in Computer Aided Drafting and survey data field processing software.
  • Experience working with LiDAR scan data.
  • Experience training staff on survey related equipment, software and standard survey procedures.
