In the role of Mechanical Technician, you will support our local operations and maintenance team in the safe and efficient operation of our pipeline assets. It’s an excellent job for people who value safety, are motivated, want to learn and have a strong work ethic!

Placement Details:

This is a 4–month co-op placement starting in May 2023, located in Whitewater, Vesper or Hayward, Wisconsin. There is an option to begin this placement in January 2023. We can also be flexible with hours worked and the timing of the term to allow for schooling.

What you will do:

  • Ensure that mechanical maintenance work is performed in compliance with regulations and
  • Perform preventative and repair maintenance on all aspects of pipeline associated equipment with the intent to operate the line at optimum efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the Technical Supervisor, other Electrical Technicians, and Mechanical Technicians, to plan, schedule, and execute maintenance work efficiently and effectively.
  • Assist project teams with construction projects as assigned: design reviews, hazard assessments, pre-bid tours, pre-construction meetings, mechanical equipment installation, and equipment commissioning.
  • Communicate with and maintain a positive working relationship with the Control Center operators, Operations and Maintenance personnel, and other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Comply with all DOT rules and regulations as they apply to pipeline operations.

Who you are:

  • You are currently enrolled in a full-time post-secondary program studying millwright/industrial maintenance. Candidates studying in adjacent programs may be considered.
  • Effective and professional communication both verbal and written with ability to communicate with all levels within the organization.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Solid computer skills and experience using MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Ability to actively and consistently represent Enbridge’s core values (Safety, Integrity, Respect, Inclusion).
  • Valid driver’s license and responsible driving record.

Working Conditions:

  • Office-based role, located in Whitewater (Southern), Vesper (Central) or Hayward (Northern), Wisconsin.
  • Relocation assistance is not provided.

Physical Requirements (Office) include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light-moderate lifting (objects up to 45 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement.

Mental Requirements (Both Field & Office) include but are not limited to:

Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
