A day in the life of an Environmental Engineer at NTH
  • Conduct and prepare Phase I and II ESAs and vapor intrusion studies for commercial and industrial properties.
  • Prepare BEAs and evaluate due care obligations for commercial and industrial properties.
  • Conduct and prepare Hazardous Material Surveys for commercial and industrial properties.
  • Assist with the preparation of technical proposals and work plans.
  • Perform other field and office tasks, as necessary.
 
What you need to apply
  • Bachelor’s degree from a 4-year accredited college or university in Civil or Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or Geology or comparable discipline.
  • 40-Hour HAZWOPER training preferred.
  • Asbestos Building Inspector license preferred.  
  • 8+ years of experience with completing Phase I/ II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), in accordance to ASTM E1527-21 and ASTM E1903.
  • Experience with completing Baseline Environmental Assessments (BEA) and Evaluating Due Care Obligations, in accordance with Michigan Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE) Part 201 Environmental Remediation of Act 451, Amended, Section 20107a of Part 201.
  • Knowledge of environmental liability pursuant to Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA).
  • Experience completing underground storage tank removal and closure requirements in accordance with Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes and Energy (EGLE) Part 213 and Section 21304c.
  • Experience completing vapor intrusion studies in accordance with EGLE Guidance Documentation.
  • Experience in completing Hazardous Material Surveys of commercial and industrial buildings.
  • Experience with brownfield regulations and preparing brownfield plans.
  • At least 1 year of demonstrated leadership experience in mentoring and leading junior staff is required.
  • May be required to perform job duties in the field and office, during non-standard work hours, as necessary.
  • Must be able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel to and conduct field work at job sites/offices in Michigan.
  • Must be authorized to work full-time in the U.S.A. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired are required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility verification document form upon hire.
