JOB DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of Marsh Enterprise Architecture is to lead global technology strategy and oversee its implementation via numerous delivery projects. The Enterprise Architects ensure that all decisions made both strategically and at individual project levels are aligned to overall Marsh IT standards in relation to implementation approach, application landscape, and technology selection in both the medium-term (3 years) and long-term (5 years +).
The Enterprise Architect will be responsible for providing insights and advice to Senior Management, directly influencing all decisions made in relation to the application landscape and technology stack. The Enterprise Architect will be responsible for the development of application and technology roadmaps that deliver on the business’s strategy and realize the agreed goals and targets within the core value chain vertical of Client Management. MS Dynamics is a platform selection already made by MMC for Marsh’s CRM application, and so expertise in this platform is required and this role will act as a champion for the technology.
The Enterprise Architect will ensure that spend on Client Management applications and the MS Dynamics platform is effective, that developed solutions are reusable, application diversity is minimized and that quality of deliverables from Solution Architects, MMC development teams, and third parties is up to both Marsh and MMC standards.
The Enterprise Architect will be required to act as the ‘on point’ Lead Architect on larger, complex Client Management transformational projects and programs, leading one or more Solution Architects and other delivery team members, and will be responsible for resolving problems, making decisions, and ensuring the alignment to both Marsh and MMC strategies, standards, and principles.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Act as the Subject Matter Expert for our global Client Management application landscape, building close working relationships with senior stakeholders
Act as a ‘Lead Architect’ for complex Client Management transformational projects, supporting both Solution Architects and development communities by being ‘on-point’ for decision making, problem solving, and ensuring cross-project strategies are aligned to.
Directly support the development and maintenance of the Enterprise Architecture strategy, proactively managing platform/ technology obsolescence and delivery of technology to enable the realisation of the Client Management target application landscape while maximising benefit to Marsh; this will include creating the strategy for MS Dynamics utilisation in Marsh
Directly support the enablement of technologies, in particular MS Dynamics, and components that are fundamental to the implementation of the Enterprise Architecture strategy, ensuring alignment to MMC’s Technology Standards and Guidelines
Collaboration with data, process, and solution architects to achieve a full understanding of the EA landscape that is reflected in all EA deliverables
Shared responsibility for the Enterprise Architecture repositories and associated architecture artefacts that underpin the enterprise.
Provide guidance on the following domains to both Solution Architects and the wider IT communities when creating solutions:
Enterprise applications, both packaged and bespoke
Microsoft Dynamics365 Sales, Customer Service and Finance modules
Microsoft PowerPlatform
Application containerization
Agile and DevOps delivery methodologies
Drive collaboration across IT teams to ensure the integrity and security of architecture, flexibility of design, and quality of solutions
Review and Approve Architecture Definition Documents (or equivalent agile artefacts) produced by peers and provide constructive feedback.
Work closely with vendors of Marsh on the evaluation of their products and skills, and on the quality of their product and deliverables
QUALIFICATIONS:
The candidate should have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree, ideally in computer science or a related field.
Have around 10 years in systems design, and expertise in web computing.
Experience making strategic technology decisions and seeing them through the technology lifecycle
Experience distilling complex technology scenarios to an executive level and justifying technology choices
Expertise in the configuration, customization and extension of Microsoft Dynamics365 Sales, Marketing, Customer Service and/or Finance
Expertise in the integration of Microsoft Dynamics365 with supporting applications from other Microsoft platforms such as Teams, PowerAutomate, Power BI
Expertise in designing solutions and expressing them in standard ways such as user views, logical component views, integration collaborations and sequences, and deployment views
Expertise and experience in developing enterprise software solutions on different technology stacks and using a range of methodologies
Experience working within the Client Management space of the Insurance Broking Industry or Financial Services industry
Knowledge and experience of all phases of the SDLC and full lifecycle implementations using traditional waterfall / iterative methodologies and more modern agile ones.
Experience in managing and leading out-sourced development teams.
Experience with deployment and roll-out of both in-house developed and off the shelf products
Have strong problem solving & analytical skills
Able to seed or self-start the technical aspects of small-scale projects working with business analysts, project managers, and enterprise engineering teams
Able to add value to large scale structured projects by "taking ownership" of technical considerations at any point within the project lifecycle
Able to balance several competing priorities or projects and deliver to demanding timelines using prioritization and time management skills
Experience of technical mentoring of more junior developers and offshore developers
Experience with TOGAF ADM and familiarity with the business, application, technology, and data views
