Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is eager to hire an experienced traffic engineer to serve as Assistant Area Traffic Engineer overseeing the South King County area. Independently, in conjunction with and in support of the King Area Traffic Engineer, the incumbent manages traffic analysis, design review & operations support for projects and issues arising in King County south of I-90 including the City of Seattle and excluding the I-405 corridor. The incumbents work includes supporting WSDOT capital programs (Connecting Washington, Move Ahead Washington, fish passage), WSDOT Mega projects (SR 520 program, SR 509 Gateway program), local agency and developer projects, transit led projects and lower-cost enhancements on state highway facilities occurring in south King County. The incumbent leads a staff of two TE3 technical specialists providing traffic engineering decisions & functions for planning, projects, and political/constituent driven issues within King County south of I-90 including the City of Seattle and excluding the I-405 corridor.  
 
As the Assistant Area Traffic Engineer, this position will utilize traffic engineering and operations expertise to make an impact on state highway projects and is expected to be an advocate and steward for the integrity of the state highway network through all phases of planning, design, construction, and operations.
