Salary Range: $4,306 - $6,680

A day in the life:
  • Administer consultant and construction contracts including design and construction of structures, highways, and traffic signals.
  • Lead and coordinate inspection activities on complex highway construction projects.
  • Assist in contract administration functions assuring quality and quantity documentation is complete.
  • Assist and prepare price adjustments for non-specification material and work.
  • Provide oversite of consultants and contractors to ensure compliance on projects.
  • Monitor project engineering, consultant, and construction budgets.
  • Initiate, negotiate, prepare, review, and develop estimates and justifications for proposed CCO’s. WOS’s and SFO’s.
  • Be proactive in anticipating and resolving project issues.
  • Visit project sites to review progress and address and problems.
  • Represent the agency at public meetings and local civic groups.
  • 50% or more of the work is performed in the field, which requires working in all types of weather, in close proximity to traffic or construction equipment.
  • May be required to work on heights, and to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Long hours are required for extended periods of time to meet deadlines.
  • May occasionally be on call, including during evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Some work is performed in a typical office environment.

What we need:
Four years of para-professional engineering or surveying experience. One year of this experience must have been working independently or as a senior member of a team or work group; OR
 
An equivalent combination of education and experience; OR
 
An associate degree in engineering technology or surveying from a recognized community college or technical school of engineering and two and one-half years of engineering or surveying experience. One year of this experience must have been working independently or as a senior member of a team or work group; OR
 
A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, surveying, or transportation-related engineering and one-year civil engineering or surveying experience.
 
Special Qualification:
Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.

  • Extensive experience testing and inspecting materials used to construct highway projects.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with contractors, technicians, and engineers.
  • Possess or be able to obtain the following ODOT certifications: CAT-1, CEBT, CDT, CAGT, QCT, CAT-2, and CCT.
  • Experience in interpreting contract plans and specifications for roadway and bridge construction projects.
