Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is currently seeking a Transportation Engineer 3 (In-Training) to serve as the Materials and Fabrication Inspector in Tumwater, WA. Under the direct supervision of an American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector, this position inspects steel highway bridges, bridge bearings, steel pedestrian bridges, structural steel for State Ferry systems, piling, sign structures, sign brackets, signal bridges, signal and luminaire standards, bridge rail, handrail, field welded structural steel, field welded reinforcing steel, sandblast and coating operations including liquid coatings, powder coatings, and galvanizing, This position is considered a staff specialist inspecting all type of fabricated items including: prestressed concrete structures, pre cast concrete “Three Sided Structures”, precast concrete structural earth walls, noise barrier walls , bridge deck panels, pier caps, retaining walls, wall panels, wall stem panels, floor panels, and marine pier deck panels, precast concrete vaults, precast concrete culverts, pipe and vaults, precast concrete traffic barrier, metal castings, signing materials, epoxy coated reinforcing steel, high strength bolts, anchor bolts, and treated timber and lumber. The selected candidate will support highway construction projects statewide by providing expertise and the timely inspection of all types of fabricated items and materials being used in the fabrication of various WSDOT products.
