Salary Range: $4,306 - $6,680
 
The role:  
We are recruiting for a roadway designer to join our team in Salem. In this role, you will work as part of a team to design less complex highway transportation construction projects. Projects typically involve freeway safety and overlay, rural and urban arterial highways, minor bridge replacement, city streets, county roads, and more. A day in the life:
  • Prepare and design the roadway portion of plans and estimates on transportation construction projects.
  • Prepare and evaluate design alternatives to determine benefits regarding public safety, cost, environmental impact, and project goals.
  • Provide technical and procedural guidance on project development and project delivery issues.
  • Participate in project teams and provide technical guidance on project development.
  • Complete design and cost estimates for transportation projects.
  • Answer questions from other staff, the public, and other agencies.
  • Provide design support during construction which includes design changes, reviewing materials submitted, and three-dimensional design information.
  • Present and implement approved team proposals ad provide feedback during team meetings.
  • Work is performed in a typical office environment at ODOT Region 2 Tech Center Headquarters with occasional field scoping, inspection trips and meetings throughout the region.

    What we need:
Completion of and passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
OR
A bachelor's degree in civil or transportation-related engineering.
