Established as the research arm of the University of Dayton in 1956, UDRI achieved $2.75 billion in cumulative sponsored research in 2020. Sponsored research for 2022 alone exceeded $220 million.

UDRI is looking for an Associate Data Science Engineer to join the SPIRE group. You will contribute to a growing team responsible for cutting-edge technology and enhancing artificial intelligence, autonomy and data exploitation capabilities and effectiveness.

An ideal candidate for this role will be excited at the prospect of implementing state of the art data exploitation techniques, machine learning and natural language processing to reveal new insights and research new applications. Past experience with these topics, either academic or professional, is beneficial. However, as this is an entry level position emphasis is placed on enthusiastic, self-starting individuals that are passionate about learning and growing in this technical domain. Team members will have the flexibility to explore, learn and utilize new technologies.


Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree
2. Due to the nature of this position, US. Citizenship is required
3. Successful experience (academic or professional) programming in Python
4. Knowledge of data structures
5. Enthusiastic, motived, self-starting individual with a willingness to learn new skills

Preferred Qualifications

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

1. Master's degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
2. Demonstrated, effective interpersonal skills
3. Active US SECRET (or higher) clearance
4. Familiarity (academic or professional) with:
-- 4.1. Image processing/computer vision techniques
-- 4.2. Machine/Deep learning techniques
-- 4.3. Data management/curation, analysis, processing and exploitation
-- 4.4. Application programming interfaces such as RestAPI, etc
-- 4.5. Containerization platforms such as Docker, etc
-- 4.6. Natural language processing
5. Strong written and verbal communication skills

A federal court on December 7, 2021, issued a ruling that suspends the COVID-19 vaccine requirement that applies to federal contractors nationwide.
