Salary Range: $7,135 - $11,035
 
The role:  
We are recruiting for an area manager to lead all aspects of our development and construction program in Region 5, the northeast part of Oregon. You will supervise technical and engineering staff as they accomplish projects. You will be accountable for keeping design and construction projects on track. A day in the life:
  • Direct the biennial and annual budget requests for the agency within the area.
  • Set priorities within the project development and construction programs.
  • Develop annual plans to establish schedules and budgets for projects within the area.
  • Ensure program delivery, identify needed resources, resolve concerns, interpret policies and provide direction.
  • Serve on statewide Project Delivery leadership teams to develop statewide strategies to continuously improve our ability to deliver the state’s transportation program.
  • Manage and administer contracts for state, federal and local agency projects.
  • Provide technical support and advice to project managers.
  • Recruit, select, supervise, appraise and mentor project managers, project leaders and administrative staff.
  • Represent our agency on local area commissions and other stakeholder groups.
  • Work is performed primarily in an office environment with extensive use of a personal computer.
  • Regular travel is required statewide and long hours may be required, including some evening meetings.
  • Frequent contact with local and elected officials, media, stakeholders and the public.
  • Periodic work outdoors at project sites is required, which may involve exposure to extreme hazards of traffic, construction equipment, all weather conditions.
  • May need to walk on rough terrain and stoop or bend around structures or equipment and may be required to work 20 feet or more above ground or water.

What we need:

Seven years of supervision, management, or progressively related experience;
 
OR
 
Four years of related experience and a bachelor's degree in a related field.
 
Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.
