Coastal Habitat Restoration Engineer

Richmond, TX

 

DU is currently seeking applicants for a Coastal Habitat Restoration Engineer with 5+ years of experience in our Richmond, Texas office. The selected candidate will work with a multi-disciplinary team to plan, design, and implement nature-based solutions to address coastal flooding and shoreline erosion throughout Texas and southwest Louisiana.

What might your day look like working for DU?

-30% of your time will be spent in the field performing site assessments, reviewing restoration plans, providing construction oversight, and conducting project monitoring.

-30% of your time will be spent designing restoration project components and using AutoCAD Civil 3D to produce preliminary, final and construction documents.

-40% of your time will be spent supporting the DU team and our partners to move our portfolio of coastal restoration projects forward. This could be working on regulatory issues, supporting funding proposal development, project management, and working on reporting.

Regardless of your daily tasks, you will be working on projects that are making a difference, creating nature-based solutions that benefit people and wildlife. Your days will be spent in some of the most unique and special places in Texas, from our imperiled coastal marshes and bayous to our historic office on the banks of the Brazos River.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil, Coastal or Environmental Engineering from an ABET accredited college, with a minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer with the ability to obtain PE license by reciprocity in multiple states.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with public and private conservation partners.
  • Demonstrated oral and written interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, in inclement weather, with minimal supervision in remote work environments.
  • Travel overnight, with some extended travel.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, etc).

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Leadership with internal and external multi-disciplinary teams to execute tasks.
  • Experience with evaluating projects based on an understanding of regulatory and/or technical requirements.
  • Experience with design and implementation beneficial use of dredge material projects
  • Experience with design and construction of coastal shoreline protection projects
  • Proficiency in GIS and AUTOCAD Civil 3D, hydraulic and coastal modeling, and related engineering software.
  • Knowledge of coastal construction methods, practices, materials, and equipment.
  • Knowledge of methods and techniques of project administration, construction inspection and materials testing.

SALARY RANGE: $80,000 – $110,000 USD- Salary commensurate with experience
