The Opportunity
WSDOT is currently seeking to fill a Transportation Engineer 2 position based in the Design Plans Office in Spokane, WA. Under the direction of the Regional Plans/Design Manager and Design Documentation Engineer, this position is responsible for ensuring the quality of design, documentation, and plans that are produced or managed in Eastern Region for the benefit of the public and contracting sector that uses our plans to bid and efficiently build infrastructure. This position will assist in Eastern Region Right of Way/Survey/Utilities sections with permitting, field surveying, and preparation/review of right of way & survey documents.
 
What to Expect
Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, you will:

  • Assist the Region Development Group by providing review support and plans guidance for project offices throughout the 30-60-90 review process, including PS&E final review submittal for funding approval, coordinating projects through the advertisement period and bid opening.
  • Advise, track, and review design documentation submittals.
  • Review and advise on Plans-for-Approval submittals, including vertical and horizontal alignment, I/C, I/S, and Channelization Plans.
  • Review applications for accuracy.
  • Prepare exhibit maps, provisions, and appropriate supporting documents. 
  • Inspect construction of utility installations within WSDOT Right of Way. Inspect construction work of developer projects. 
  • Assist with materials documentation and tracking. 
  • Conduct field survey work.
 
Qualifications
To be considered for this opportunity, the following are required:
It is preferred that qualified candidates also have: 
  • Certification as an Engineer-In-Training or
  • 2 year or 4 year degree in engineering or related field.
