A day in the life of a Structural Engineering Manager at NTH
  • Leadership and management of NTH’s infrastructure design services, including business development, client, and project management, as well as staff recruitment / retention and growth.
  • Lead an operational team of 15+ engineers, technicians, and other professionals performing technical design of civil engineering projects.
  • Plan, design, and coordinate multi-disciplinary infrastructure design projects in both lead consultant and subconsultant roles.
  • Provide training and mentoring of staff.
  • Ensure engineering deliverables comply with relevant standards and codes.
  • Identify opportunities for internal process improvement.
  • Manage selected projects (or components of projects), taking responsibility for resource allocation, managing subcontractors, managing the production of analysis and design (including drawings and reports), ensuring the integrity of the overall design, quality assurance and client satisfaction.
 
What you need to apply
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering or related degree, from a 4-year accredited college or university.  Master’s degree preferred.
  • Professional registration required.
  • 15+ years of demonstrated experience in Civil Engineering design.
  • Experience in project planning, budgeting, delegating and management to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Bridge and/or roadway design experience a plus.
  • Perform QA/QC reviews on project deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain professional business relationships with targeted new clients.
  • Assist in developing business strategies and action plans for creating growth opportunities.
  • Work with Business Development staff to bring new clients / business opportunities to the firm.
  • May be required to perform job duties in the field and office, during non-standard work hours, as necessary.
  • Strong organizational skills and high level of attention to detail.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance and be willing to travel to and conduct project related meetings at project sites as well as offices in Michigan.
