Education
Bachelor’s of Science degree in Civil Engineering or related degree, from a 4-year accredited college or university. Master’s degree preferred.
Registration
Professional registration required.
Functional Responsibility
Leadership and management of NTH’s infrastructure design services, including business development, client and project management, as well as staff recruitment / retention and growth.
Technical Experience
- 15+ years of demonstrated experience in Civil Engineering design
- Experience in project planning , budgeting, delegating and management to ensure compliance with project requirements
- Bridge and/or roadway design experience a plus.
Key Job Elements
In this role you will:
- Lead an operational team of 15+ engineers, technicians, and other professionals performing technical design of civil engineering projects
- Plan, design, and coordinate multi-disciplinary infrastructure design projects in both lead consultant and subconsultant roles
- Provide training and mentoring of staff
- Ensure engineering deliverables comply with relevant standards and codes
- Identify opportunities for internal process improvement
- Manage selected projects (or components of projects), taking responsibility for resource allocation, managing subcontractors, managing the production of analysis and design (including drawings and reports), ensuring the integrity of the overall design, quality assurance and client satisfaction.

- Must have strong written and oral communication skills, be able to work in a team environment, as well as independently.
- Must have demonstrated team-oriented approach to problem-solving, and have strong interpersonal skills for contact with clients, NTH project managers as well as corporate level senior management.
- Strong organizational skills and high level of attention to detail
- Exceptional time management skills, ability to manage multiple assignments at any given time,
and have ability to work in a team environment and mentor/develop staff.
Work Environment / Physical Demands
- May be required to perform job duties in the field and office, during non-standard work hours, as necessary.
- Must be able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
Project Management Responsibilities
- Manage projects (or components of projects) meeting budgetary, quality, and schedule requirements
- Perform QA/QC reviews on work product
- Perform project planning, budgeting, task delegation and management to ensure project is completed according to work plans
- Project Administration, including invoicing and collections
Business Development Responsibilities
- Represent the firm in the local community
- Assist the Strategic Market Executives in developing clients and business, evaluating opportunities, and identifying areas to add or improve firm capabilities
- Serve as Client Lead for one or more Target Clients
- Develop and maintain professional business relationships with targeted new clients
- Conduct periodic site / client visits, project and business development meetings
- Assist in developing business strategies and action plans for creating growth opportunities
- Work with Business Development staff to bring new clients / business opportunities to the firm
Bonus and Incentives
- Position is bonus eligible.
- Bonus and incentives are based on achieving metrics and meeting goals, both in operational and business development roles.
