Job Description:

The University of Dayton's Computer Science department invites qualified applicants to apply for our Administrative & Advising Coordinator opening! The Administrative and Advising Coordinator position acts as a resource to support Computer Science students in their academic and professional journey at the University of Dayton. Common tasks include: advising students, assisting departmental administrative tasks, coordinating with key partners both on and off campus, communication with multiple parties that interface with the department such as current students, prospective students, alumni, and industry partners.

The person in this role reports to the Director for Advising and Department Initiatives. As a member of the Advising Department Initiatives team you can expect to work closely with the Academic Program Directors and Department Chair as well as other key partners across campus.

An ideal candidate has exceptional interpersonal skills, is self-motivated, and is vested in the success of our students. An ability to develop positive working relationships with a diverse community of faculty, staff, students, administrators and external constituents is critical to this role.

Responsibilities include:

Providing advice and support to an assigned caseload of students through appointments, drop-ins, emails, programming, and more

Inputting data into computer systems including but not limited to Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace

Managing department’s advising inbox (prospective student emails, scheduling prospective student visits, registration emails and company outreach)

Updating information available to students on the Isidore platform (job, internship, research, and scholarship opportunities)

Hosting department tours with the Director for Advising and Department Initiatives for prospective students and their families

Guiding students through course registration

Assist with manual registration process (when needed)

Serving as a liaison with the department and the Registrar’s Office working with graduation ceremony late/early walk approvals.

Working closely with the Director for Advising and Department Initiatives in connecting with companies and alumni to host info sessions and additional networking events for students.

Hosting weekly office hours for immediate advising questions from graduate students.

Tracking probation and dismissals for graduate students.

Obtain and track approvals for retake courses from Graduate Program Director

Connecting students to personal and professional resources available to them on and off campus

Social media management for the department platforms (Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn)

Other duties as assigned
