We are looking for a full-time Quality Control Engineer to support our team in the Torrance office. Below, the details of this opportunity.
 
 
  1. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
 
Regular Functions include:
 
  • Supports SMG Plant in assuring product quality, identify strengths and risks and provide feedback to plant operation team.
 
  • Responsible for first article approval process including oversight of receiving inspection daily activities, FA Inspection, NCMR’s, RMA’s and MRB process.
 
  • Partners with and serve as liaison to establish ongoing communication with supply base, engineering, quality, and suppliers. 
 
  • Engages ESI (Early Supplier Involvement) for manufacturing input while identifying strengths and risks and provide feedback to engineering team.
 
  • Assess suppliers’ process capabilities to identify the intended control process or manufacturing plans.  Includes travel to supplier locations.
 
  • Manages the supplier corrective action report.  Ensures quality and delivery issues are addressed with suppliers by developing an effective corrective/preventive action plan.  
 
  • Works with suppliers to ensure measurement systems are adequate and capable.
 
  • Ensures any changes to raw material suppliers, manufacturing process, work center instructions, or measurement methods are made following required approval process after specific product family has been approved.
 
  • Establishes, defines, monitors, and reports on key performance measures (KPIs) with respect to suppliers’ performance.
 
  • Provides support for quality requirements to product engineering team, ensuring activities such as testing are completed.
 
  • Develops, documents, and validates new quality processes and inspection methods.
 
  • Develops and implements measuring protocol (process defining usage of inspection fixtures and inspection tools including but not limited to, calipers, micrometers, thread gages, height gage, CMM, and comparator).
 
  • Responds to customer complaints when required.
 
  • Other duties as required.
 
Periodic Functions include:
 
  • Conducts periodic Quality System Management audits to ensure compliance with Storm Manufacturing Group’s requirements and expectations
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally.
 
  1. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS.
 
Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree with minimum 5 years in a quality position or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience working in a Manufacturing Environment.
  • An Engineering degree is very desirable.
