LOCATION: EGLIN AFB, FL The primary role of this position is to support an electronics research team and Lead Technician by supporting additive manufacturing-related research and facility renovation efforts to upgrade a historic lab space into state-of-the-art 3D printing lab at the AFRL Fuzes and Warheads Branch at Eglin Air Force Base, Florida. The job will require manual labor and lifting in excess of 50lbs, scheduling and receiving deliveries and technical apprenticeship with the Lead Technician. Ability to offer suggestions for improvements and upgrades to lab setup and organization desired. This position will also collaborate with the electronics manufacturing team with the design, printing and troubleshooting of related technology and equipment. Setup of new equipment and techniques expected. Examples of technical duties includes, but is not limited to: Assisting in designing and fabrication of fuze electronic components and instrumentation components for fuze experiments. Assists in testing of electronic components. Develops and improves, if possible, electronic fabrication techniques. Analyses technical data to determine applicability to design problems. Develops data collection techniques and test configurations. Collects, analyzes, and interprets test data. Maintains complete records of tests. When possible and appropriate, uses previously untried instrumentation techniques. Supporting researchers and engineers in designing additive manufactured components based on knowledge of the capabilities of materials and 3D printers. Participates, as necessary, in technology maturation planning of additive manufacturing programs. Collaborates with other government agencies, academic communities, and industries in development of additive manufacturing technology as appropriate. Assists in testing of additive manufacturing components. Operates additive manufacturing and electronic fabrication systems. Schedules and performs periodic maintenances on additive manufacturing and electronic fabrication systems. Notifies management when operations of systems are degraded and recommends recovery solutions. Manages inventory of spare parts and research material to ensure mission readiness.
A strong team approach along with strong soft skills, written reporting and other forms of communication required. Some travel may be required to receive appropriate training.


Minimum Qualifications
High School graduation plus 8 years related technical experience OR two years of formal training beyond high school plus 6 years related experience.
Experience with electrical and mechanical drawing software.
Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required.
Candidate must be able to obtain a SECRET level security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

BS in engineering or related field.
Familiarity/experience with conformal printing techniques.
Familiarity/experience with aerosol jet technology.
Experience working in the Defense sector.
Holds an active SECRET level security clearance.
