Job Description:

Are you interested in working for UDRI, a national leader in scientific and engineering research, serving government, industry and nonprofit customers? UDRI invites qualified candidates to apply for our Staff Computer Engineer opening!

This position will be responsible for working, as part of a diverse and skilled technical team, to write, simulate, test, and deploy algorithms written in HDLs to FPGAs. There may additionally be opportunities to work with Simulink to design, simulate, and test algorithms for FPGAs. This position may also allow for software development and testing in languages such as MATLAB, C++, and Python. This position requires a bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of professional experience and may be expected to perform tasks at a higher level of independence when compared to an entry level position. Candidates, among other considerations with more preferred qualifications will likely be more successful in obtaining this position.


Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or other relevant engineering degree.
2. 3+ years of relative professional experience.
3. Experience implementing algorithms on FPGAs via VHDL or Verilog.
4. Experience working in algorithm level languages such as MATLAB and Simulink.
5. Experience working in Linux environments.
6. Experience utilizing source code version control.
7. Effective written and verbal communication skills.
8. Eligibility to obtain a United States SECRET clearance (or higher) is required for ongoing employment in this position
9. Due to the nature of this position, U.S. Citizenship is required.


Preferred Qualifications

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

1. Master’s Degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
2. Professional experience implementing radar algorithms in VHDL for Intel FPGAs.
3. Professional experience implementing algorithms on FPGAs via Simulink, DSP Builder, and HDL Coder.
4. Professional experience developing firmware/software to communicate and exchange information (e.g. commands, status, data) with hardware devices, sensors, and/or systems.
5. Professional experience designing and implementing DSP algorithms.
6. Professional experience implementing algorithms in MATLAB.
7. Professional experience implementing algorithms in C++.
8. Professional experience implementing algorithms in Python.
9. Professional experience implementing parallel algorithms in CUDA.
10. Professional experience developing software for embedded systems.
11. Professional experience utilizing Git source code version control.
12. Professional experience with software development practices such as Agile, Scrum, or similar.
13. Demonstrated, effective interpersonal skills.
14. Active US SECRET (or higher) clearance.
