The WI Department of Transportation (WisDOT), Division of Transportation System Development (DTSD) is seeking an interested and qualified individual to fill a Quality Assurance Engineer (Civil Engineer Transportation Advanced) vacancy in the North Central Region!

This full-time position can be headquartered in Wisconsin Rapids or Rhinelander.

Position Summary

This position provides technical expertise and quality assurance for the region’s transportation design and construction program.  It functions as a part of the project development section and program controls team.  The work performed is frequently very technically complex, requires great independence and broad interdisciplinary knowledge. This position is generally self-directed and provides expert advice, guidance, direction and assistance to the region’s Project Development staff and management on design, construction, and program delivery matters.  The quality assurance function ensures quality, timeliness, and uniformity for region projects by reviewing plans, participating in plan review process, developing, and monitoring reports and schedules. The reviews would result in advising project supervisors, managers, staff, and consultants.  This advice is provided through training, mentoring, reporting, and communicating as needed.

The essential functions of this position are to ensure the regions program is tracking on time, on budget, and of high quality. It will also provide specialized guidance, direction, and coordination to ensure uniformity and accuracy in of the region's transportation improvement program across both regional offices.  This requires Facilities Development Manual knowledge, reading comprehension, mathematic comprehension, technical writing skills, teaching skills, verbal communications skills, analytical skills, computer skills, dissemination of information skills, and the knowledge to apply the highest degree of specialized engineering principles.

Salary Information

This position is in schedule-range 14-13 with an annual salary of $72,800 to $91,520, plus excellent benefits. A twelve month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

Qualifications

Qualified applicants will have experience with all the following:

  • A valid Professional Engineering registration and be able to obtain a Wisconsin PE registration within 3 months if PE registration is from another state
