Job location: EGLIN, AFB. This position requires the individual to be on-site and entails working with scientists and engineers in the research and development of ordnance technologies utilizing varying Digital Engineering (DE) tools. DE tools include but are not limited to the following tools: Cameo Systems Modeler, SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, Ansys Engineering Simulation Software, and Jira team collaboration software.

The employee will need to either have a working knowledge in Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) with an emphasis in the SysML language or have the ability to become an expert in MBSE. This position requires participation in technical interchange meetings, community of practice meetings, workshops, and technical conferences within DE community.

In addition, the employee will need a working knowledge in Computer Aided Design (CAD). Working within CAD, the individual will be expected to execute new product design that incorporates the basic understanding of mechanical fabrication and will in some cases extend to performing hands on work in a lab environment. Favorable experience includes the ability to produce and evaluate technical drawings.

Overarching, the employee will help coordinate research efforts among other DoD (Army, Navy, Air Force) and DOE (Oak Ridge, Sandia, Lawrence Livermore, etc.) laboratories. The individual may assist in presenting technical and non-technical information to small and large audiences. The individual may be required to travel, estimated at about 2-5 trips per year. This position is currently funded for 2 years and may be extended.



Minimum Qualifications
R1 Minimum Qualifications:
• BS Degree in Mechanical or Systems Engineering but can extend to Electrical and Industrial Engineering depending on qualifications.
• Experience in Computer Aided Design (CAD) Software.
• Candidate must be a U.S. citizen.
• Candidate should have the ability to obtain a Secret-level or higher clearance, and DoD certification in explosives.
• Strong technical communication skills (oral and written).

R2 Minimum Qualifications:
• BS Degree in Mechanical or Systems Engineering but can extend to Electrical and Industrial Engineering depending on qualifications
• A minimum of 2 years related working experience OR a Masters/PhD
• Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) Software and GD&T of technical drawings.
• Candidate must be a U.S. citizen.
• Candidate should have the ability to obtain a Secret-level or higher clearance, and DoD certification in explosives.
• Strong technical communication skills (oral and written).

Preferred Qualifications

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

R1/R2 Preferred Qualifications:
• Masters/PhD in a related minimum qualifications degree
• +2 years related working experience.
• Experience with industry in MBSE, especially a working knowledge of the SysML language.
• Experience with Computer Aided Design (CAD) Software and GD&T of technical drawings.
• Knowledge of or training with Model Based Systems Engineering.
• Demonstrated successful collaboration with DoD/DOE research laboratories.
• Experience working in a technical environment with hands on experience. Examples could include a fabrication, machine, or auto shop.
