This position is located at Tinker AFB, Oklahoma.

The University of Dayton does not currently require employees to be vaccinated against Covid-19. However, due solely to USAF requirements, the successful candidate will need to present proof of Covid-19 vaccination prior to any travel, which is a requirement for this position.

The University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) is seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to perform duties in the area of Laser Micromachining (LMM). Following prescribed procedures and instructions in the operation of a specialized laser machining system, the individual will manage the LMM system process, provide feedback for development and organization of the processes used to create training kits, manage the deployment of training kits to field labs, and maintain an organized records management of deployed training kits.


Minimum Qualifications

T1 level
• High school diploma with two or more years’ experience.
• Experience with CNC (computer numerical control) machining equipment.
• Ability to communicate to engineers and field NDI personnel, both verbally and in writing.
• Possess a high level of organization, accountability, and the ability to act independently and with little supervision.
• Strong procedural documentation skills.
• Fundamental skills in technical writing.
• Proven ability to problem solve.
• Ability to work well with others in a team setting.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
• Due to the nature of this position, the applicant must be a US Citizen.

T2 level
All of T1 Minimum Qualifications as well as:
• High school diploma with four or more years’ experience.
• Vocational school, apprenticeship, or machining certifications.
• Proficient with CNC machining equipment and/or laser control operation
• Moderate experience at manipulating 3D Scanner data (point cloud) using CAD/Solidworks.
• Familiarity with laser control software such as Direct Machining Control (DMC).
 


Preferred Qualifications

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

• High school diploma with six or more years’ experience.
• Experience operating 3D scanners and software.
• Familiarity with laser control software such as Direct Machining Control (DMC).
• Familiarity with laser micromachining.
• Experience interacting with civilian personnel, government personnel, and contractors.
• Experience with Air Force personnel and training systems.

A federal court on December 7, 2021, issued a ruling that suspends the COVID-19 vaccine requirement that applies to federal contractors nationwide.
