Established as the research arm of the University of Dayton in 1956, UDRI achieved $2.75 billion in cumulative sponsored research in 2020. Sponsored research for 2022 alone exceeded $220 million.

The University of Dayton is currently seeking entry-level research engineer to work in the Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) Research Laboratory. This position will provide a broad base of support in assisting research engineers with various technical and analytical activities. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: the use of equipment to acquire and analyze measurement and microscopy data; performing experimental studies; reporting and documenting data and results, creating technical content for proposals and reports.

Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or technical area is required
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Matlab.
• Excellent organizational, writing and communication skills.
• A self-motivated individual with an aptitude for following procedures.
• Experience with digital and optical microscopes, processing digital data and data acquisition systems.
• Due to the nature of this position, applicant must be a U.S. citizen and have the ability to pass a national agency check.

Preferred Qualifications

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

• Experience with instrumentation and measurement devices.
• Experience with vibratory processing methods

A federal court on December 7, 2021, issued a ruling that suspends the COVID-19 vaccine requirement that applies to federal contractors nationwide.
