The role:  
 
Join our team in Region 3 as a hydraulic designer! In this role, you will assist in designing moderately complex transportation related projects. You will be a region contact for water quality, roadway drainage, bridge hydraulics, culvert hydraulics and maintenance support. You will also analyze, design and recommend solutions for routine to moderately complex hydraulic programs related to highway construction and maintenance. Apply today!
 
Initial training for this position will require spending a portion of the time working out of White City upon hire. After the initial training period and based on the successful candidate’s preference, this position will be located in either Roseburg or White City!

A day in the life:
  • Perform routine to moderately complex water quality facility designs, hydraulic designs and stream restoration and stabilization designs.
  • Scope project sites and determine site hydrology.
  • Perform open channel hydraulic modeling and compose hydraulic reports.
  • Perform temporary water management designs to manage water during construction activities.
  • Provide assistance to maintenance by investigating drainage complaints, making written solution recommendations and reviewing drainage designs and water for development permits.
  • Coordinate work with regulatory agencies and other agency staff.
  • Provide peer reviews.
  • Respond to questions from the public, internal staff and other agencies.
  • Provide design support during project construction.
  • Provide assistance during maintenance emergencies.
  • Work is performed in an office and in the field and will require region wide travel, overnight travel, working in inclement weather and walking over rough terrain, in culverts and around construction equipment.

What we need:
Completion of and passing score on the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and one year of experience applying professional engineering theory, principles and methods.
 
Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.
