This position is for an on-site technician within the Nonstructural Materials Division with the University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI), Dayton, OH. The candidate hired for this position will be working as an on-site contractor for UDRI at the Air Force Research Laboratory’s Materials and Manufacturing Directorate, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (WPAFB). The person hired for this position will support the technical areas of materials impact damage assessment and must have experience and skills that contribute to the Team that operates and maintains rain erosion, particle erosion, supersonic rain erosion and high temperature erosion test facilities at WPAFB. Specific duties this individual will be expected to perform include the following: provide technical and operational support to professionals and senior technicians for various erosion projects; conduct routine and custom erosion testing using customer supplied parameters; provide data to senior technicians and professionals and assist in the writing of summary and final reports detailing testing; maintain data records with descriptive and accurate data; support ongoing corrosion research programs as requested by the customer.
 
 
Minimum Qualifications
T2 minimum requirements
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of three years of related technical experience OR education/formal training beyond high school can be substituted for two years of related experience
• Ability to follow instructions, exercise sound judgement, exhibit good work habits, and have a high level of interest and aptitude for working with mechanical equipment
• Possess good organizational skills
• Effective written communication skills
• Ability to work well with others and as part of a team
• Due to the nature of this position, U.S. Citizenship is required
T3 minimum requirements - A T3 must meet all T2 minimum qualifications in addition to the qualifications listed below:
– Relevant particle/rain erosion experience
– 8+ Years Related Technical Experience
 
Preferred Qualifications
While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:
 
• Direct, hands on experience in the field of erosion sciences
• Background education in chemistry, geology, electro-chemistry, mathematics and/or statistics
• Knowledge of standardized test methods used to characterize materials
• Effective oral communication skills

A federal court on December 7, 2021, issued a ruling that suspends the COVID-19 vaccine requirement that applies to federal contractors nationwide.
