Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is currently seeking a Transportation Engineer 4 (TE4), Assistant Region Utilities Engineer, to serve as the Assistant to the Olympic Region Utilities Engineer. This role will assist in providing input and guidance to multiple activities, including, but not limited to acting as the liaison with public and private utilities; advising of upcoming highway projects; handling possible conflicts; and assisting and advising in preparing utilities relocation plans. The TE4 will also assist and provide guidance for the negotiation and preparation of Utility Preliminary Engineering Agreements, Utility Construction Agreements, Utility Service Agreements, Utility Franchises and Permits.

The Assistant Region Utilities Engineer will be required to accommodate WSDOT capital construction projects, as well as develop and maintain the inventory of utility permits and franchise agreements. This position will conduct outreach to WSDOT’s internal project offices and other support groups to ensure that utility concerns are addressed early on and don't impact the delivery of projects. They will also provide guidance on the occasional unanticipated conflict that develops during construction projects which will require immediate resolution with the utility company.
