Job Description:

Reporting to the Chief Engineering Officer, the General Manager, Corporate Facilities manages building operations, administrative services, and vendors and contractors at corporate headquarters; project manages facilities remodeling and office space planning; functions as liaison to building tenants; and coordinates special events equipment rentals, overseeing set-up and clean-up operations. The position has oversight of over 25 vendors and contractors on a 24 hour basis. 

The Primary Duties include: Oversee facilities operations including coordination, installation, repair, and maintenance of building operations systems.

Direct staff engaged in coordinating office and furniture moves, as well as, janitorial, security, travel, mail, and copier service.

Provide direction to permanent contracted skilled trades employees providing building maintenance at corporate headquarters.

Function as project manager for the design and layout of office space, furniture, and common areas at various facilities throughout the organization.

Represent Metra to building tenants for all issues related to tenant space.

Approve time off, coordinate staff schedules, fill vacancies as necessary, and ensure compliance with departmental and company policies and objectives.

Decide/implement staffing decisions, performance evaluations, and performance improvement, disciplinary, and/or termination procedures.

Make recommendations regarding hiring, performance evaluations, disciplinary and/or termination procedures.

Responsible for the safety objectives, goals, and program of the organization ensuring compliance with applicable safety rules and regulations.

Job Requirements:

1. Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, Business Management, or a related field OR in lieu of specified degree any combination of education and experience that equals four years in facilities management.

2. In addition to #1, must have seven years of experience in facilities management.

3. Must have four years of direct supervisory experience.

4. Comprehensive knowledge of building operations systems including: life safety equipment, elevators, boilers, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing, access control, telecommunication, and generators.

5. Considerable knowledge of construction principles and project management for building renovations, facility upgrades, and system replacements.

6. Good knowledge of:
