Job Description:

This position is located at the Advanced Technology and Training Center (ATTC) in Dayton, OH, at the University of Dayton Research Institute. The position will support the Additive Manufacturing Operations Group and will report to the Additive Manufacturing Process Engineering Team Lead. This role will create CAD models and additive manufacturing build files to support material property development and/or product development processes and will create the associated manufacturing routers for processing builds. The position will also help maintain overall processes in the Operations areas by tracking maintenance and preventative maintenance of equipment within the process, assisting with process improvement initiatives for contract deliverables and continuous improvement, and updating procedures and training documentation for additive manufacturing processes. The successful candidate will have interest in additive manufacturing and process engineering. This position may also be responsible for assisting with special projects. The majority of work will support government customers, but some industry partners will be supported as well.

Minimum Qualifications

(R1)
• BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical, Materials, Industrial, or equivalent) OR In the absence of a degree, 4 years of direct, relevant work experience is required.
• Familiar with data collection, analysis, and problem-solving.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Effective interpersonal communication skills within a multi-disciplinary team.
• Due to the nature of this position, US citizenship is required.


(R2) - Must meet minimums for R1 in addition to:
• BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical, Materials, Industrial, or equivalent) and 3+ years of relevant experience OR MS BS in Engineering (Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemical, Materials, Industrial, or equivalent) and 2+ years of relevant experience OR in the absence of a degree, 7 years of direct, relevant work experience is required.
• Experience with CAD software packages.


Preferred Qualifications

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

• Experience with polymer and/or metal additive manufacturing (FDM, Powder Bed Fusion, etc.)
• Engineering experience with aircraft and/or vehicle technology including ground support equipment.
• 1+ year of engineering/technical product design, hardware ownership, or manufacturing/ machining operations experience.
• Familiar with various manufacturing processes such as casting, NC machining, forging, welding, and heat treat.
• Familiar with Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA) methodologies.
• Experience with quality engineering and processes including quality management systems such as AS9100 and/or ISO9001.
