This position is located at the Advanced Technology and Training Center (ATTC) – Dayton, OH at the University of Dayton Research Institute. This position will support advanced manufacturing programs for sustainment activities. The position will serve as the CNC programmer for the machining and additive manufacturing labs, including part post processing such as manual machining, 5 axis milling, and wire EDM, fixture design, mentoring and leading younger or less skilled technicians, while adhering to lab and equipment guidelines. The successful candidate will understand machining and additive manufacturing techniques and provide guidance on design for manufacturability, equipment and part set up and part processing. The majority of work will support government customers, but some industry partners will be supported as well.


Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in CNC operations and programming for metals (i.e. milling, turning, EDM, etc…)
• Experience with programming numerical controlled equipment for complex geometries and 5-Axis Programming.
• Experience with various CAD/CAM software packages including Mastercam and Solidworks.
• Experience with lab environments and adherence to lab policies & procedures.
• Experience in interacting with design, manufacturing and process engineers and other technical personnel.
• Effective interpersonal communication skills
• Effective organizational skills
• Effective verbal communication skills with team members at all levels
• Attention to detail
• Due to the nature of this position, US citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

• All other minimum qualifications including that listed below.
• 10+ years of experience in CNC or programming and machining operations for metals or bachelor degree in mechanical engineering and 5 years’ experience machining operations for metals.
• Proficient in Solidsworks and Mastercam.
• Experience in jig and fixture design for CNC work holding.
• 5-Axis multi-axis programming experience work holding and machining casting or additively manufactured parts.
