Job Description:

Are you interested in working for UDRI, a national leader in scientific and engineering research, serving government, industry and nonprofit customers? UDRI invites qualified candidates to apply for our Staff Technician opening!

This technician will be responsible for operating and maintaining the Rapid Response Prototyping Lab. Duties will include being responsible for the 3d modeling of various laboratory tooling, aircraft components, and fixtures as well as the production of those parts via 3d printing, manual machining, and eventual CNC machining. This person will perform 3d scanning and digital manipulation of 3d models, as well as overseeing workflow in the rapid response prototyping lab and will ensure that deadlines are met for various project deliverables. The technician will be responsible for ordering lab equipment, maintaining that equipment, coordination of outside repair services, ordering and stocking lab supplies and consumables, and performing other related lab support duties.


Minimum Qualifications

T2 Minimum Qualifications:
• High school graduation or its equivalent.
• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Must be able to pass a National Agency Check
• Minimum of 3 years of related technical experience is required. Formal technical training. beyond high school can be substituted for 2 years of related experience.
• Experience with Solidworks or similar 3d modeling software.

T3 Minimum Qualifications:
A T3 must meet all T2 minimum qualifications plus a minimum of 8 years of related technical experience is required. Formal technical training beyond high school can be substituted for 2 years of related experience.
 


Preferred Qualifications

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

• Experience with manual machining (mill and lathe).
• Experience with CNC machining, programing, and operation (mill and lathe).
• Experience with Wire EDM.
• Solidworks - Creating 3d models, assemblies, and 2d drawings.
• Experience in 3d printing, utilization of slicing software, and manipulation of models for printing.
• Experience in 3d scanning of objects for modeling, printing, and further manipulation.
