TITLE OF POSITION Electrical Design Engineer DEPARTMENT Engineering REPORTS TO Engineering Lead _____________________________________________________________________________ Position Summary Unitron Power Systems is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer for the office located in Dallas, Texas. The Electrical design engineer will be responsible for designing digital and mixed-signal control and monitoring circuitry, PCB design and layout, and FPGA code development for state-of-the-art DC and AC power frequency converters. This position will coordinate design, specifications, and requirements for industrial electronic products as part of a greater cross-functional team within the Design Engineering group. The frequency converter products range from 3.5 to 250kVA with output voltages of DC or 3-phase AC ranging from 40 to 800 Hz. Principal Duties and Areas of Responsibility • Design, development, test and evaluation of digital and mixed signal circuits for high-power industrial frequency/power converters • Requirements capture and definition, component selection, schematic capture, PCB layout, analysis, simulation, verification, testing, design review preparation and participation • Analyze appropriate industry and military specifications to ensure product compliance • Participate in systems integration, debug and test at the product level • Work closely with software engineers to enable them to develop operating software and firmware for the board designs • Work closely with electrical engineers to integrate the control and monitoring circuitry with the power circuitry • Write and release board documentation including engineering drawings, schematics, bills of materials, and gerber files • Stay up to date with the latest devices, technologies, and design techniques • Provide technical and schedule updates to management Education and Experience Requirements • A degree in Electronic/Electrical engineering or equivalent with at least 3 years of experience in circuit design • Experience in designs involving power conversion preferred • Experience in board level designs that include FPGA, CPLD, DSP, and micro-controllers • Proven design skills in product development environment • Ability to read, interpret, understand, and comply with military, product, customer, and industry specifications • Experience with PCB Layout software, OrCAD and/or PADS preferred • Knowledge of PCB manufacturing processes and design rules • Experience with component level modeling for SPICE and PSIM simulation software • Knowledge of computer programming languages, C/C++ preferred • Ability to meet schedule milestones • Attention to detail when writing and releasing documentation • Work independently and as part of a team • Interpersonal skills: ability to collaborate between groups • Take personal responsibility for complicated design/development and take the project to completion Physical Requirements Must be able to climb stairs, sit, keyboard, see, hear and read/speak English fluently EOE/Minorities/Females/Vet/Disability |
