Position Summary:

Engineer Essentials (www.gdandtbasics.com) is looking to hire a full-time Engineering & Inspection Trainer. The Engineering & Inspection Trainer is responsible for training students how to work effectively with engineering drawings. The position will also consult on client projects, answer student questions, and help improve our technical content library. Trainings are conducted virtually or on-site at the client’s facility.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Master our course content and training material. Understand our syllabus, approach, and common questions. Continuously strive for a personable, engaging training style that holds the audience’s attention.
  • Conduct training on print reading and GD&T to our virtual and on-site clients. A typical training session will be a 2-day Fundamentals class or a 3-day multi-course class. We also have customizable training options that may span up to 5 weekdays.
  • Manage pre-training and post-training support with the client. Conduct pre-training consultation calls to learn our client’s goals and set expectations. Follow up with client after training to build strong relationship and address any questions after the training is concluded.
  • Consult directly with clients on special projects. Understand client project scope and help client find ideal solution based on proven standards or best practices.
  • Answer student questions accurately and within a reasonable timeframe. Engage with students within our public webinars to promote continuous education on the material.
  • Continuously develop ideas for our training and technical content – create regular fixes and improvements. Monitor the timeline for the changes to be fixed.
  • Collaborate with Course Development Team to review all new lessons and course fixes to give a final sign-off once they are implemented into training material.
  • Create short videos, fun memes, and content for our YouTube, social media, email, and website users.

Required Experience:

  • 5+ years working as an engineer or technician (quality, manufacturing, or design). Candidates will not be considered if they do not meet this criteria. We need someone who has years of real-world experience with the good, bad, and ugly aspects of part production.
  • Detailed experience working with engineering drawings (interpretation or design).
  • Strong knowledge of part inspection or CMM operation.
  • Desire and ability to travel in the US and Canada ~ 50% of the time. All your travel expenses are paid.
  • Personable and confident English-speaking ability – you need to be comfortable talking in front of many students or hosting webinars.

Preferred Knowledge (not required, but be sure to mention in your application):

  • Creating inspection plans/procedures or CMM programming experience.
  • Knowledge of common production methods, including machining, fabrication, welding, and assembly trades.
  • CAD knowledge (SOLIDWORKS preferred).
  • GD&T – specifically the ASME Y14.5 (We excel at teaching this to thousands of people, but it helps if you are somewhat experienced as you WILL become an expert in GD&T).
  • A creative outlet outside of work – e.g., photography, public speaking, teaching, 3D Printing, etc.

  • Clear Communication – you must have a professional level of verbal and written communication to ensure our clients and team are on same page.
  • Flexible, problem-solving skills – this role requires continuous innovation of ideas, concepts, and methods.

Salary: Based on experience $70,000 - $90,000

Location: Remote position with ~50% of travel required. Must be located within 60 minutes of a major US airport. Must also have access to high-speed internet of at least 100Mbs at your home location.

Typical Hours: Flexible based on training schedule – Typically 8am-5pm EST.
