DWR’s Northern Region Office is looking for a Senior Engineering Geologist with a can-do attitude to join its multidisciplinary team of professionals dedicated to sustainably managing the water resources of California. If you are interested in making a difference in the future of groundwater in the most geologically diverse part of California, and want to help the communities and environment of Northern California with their water resources needs, we may have just the job for you! Duties and responsibilities include supervising and leading geology staff, conducting groundwater and geologic investigations, providing technical assistance to internal and external programs, and participating in regional and statewide integrated water resource management and planning.

Special Requirements

    Possession of a valid certificate of registration issued by the California Board of Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, Geologists as a Professional Geologist or Geophysicist.  This position requires possession of a valid California Driver's License.

    The ideal candidate will have broad technical knowledge of conducting investigations, technical report writing, and sustainable groundwater management. Candidate should possess the ability to work effectively with others to promote a positive work environment.  A strong candidate will possess:

    • Experience with planning, conducting, and completing geologic, geomorphologic, and hydrogeologic studies
    • Knowledge of:
      • sustainable groundwater management programs and regulations
      • well design and construction
      • developing contracts and reviewing invoices
      • water transfers and conjunctive use projects
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
    • The capacity to manage multiple tasks and pay attention to detail.
