Job Description:

DWR’s Northern Region Office is looking for an Engineer, Water Resources with a can-do attitude to join its team of professionals dedicated to supporting programs and partners across Northern California. If you are a service-minded, hardworking professional interested in joining a dynamic and fast-paced multidisciplinary team dedicated to helping the communities of Northern California with their water resources needs, please apply today!  Duties will include, under the direction of the Senior Engineer, Water Resources, the successful candidate will assist in engineering analyses related to flood control, floodplain mapping, watershed restoration, and water supply. Responsibilities include conducting fieldwork and topographic surveys using a total station and other GPS equipment.  This position will assist with evaluating alternatives for flood management, watershed restoration, and water management projects.

Special Requirements-

    This position requires possession of a valid Driver's License.  Work outside of typical work schedule; attend weekend or evening meetings; conduct field work; travel out of town for meetings, conferences, and fieldwork for up to several consecutive days in remote locations, including overnight stays.

    Desirable Qualifications

    In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:

    Excellent writing skills, the ability to present results in a logical and clear manner, efficient time management and organizational skills to work on several projects simultaneously, and effectively communicate with colleagues, stakeholders, and regulatory agencies.  Knowledge of surveying, hydrology, and hydraulics, ability to use a computer to draft reports, memos, and to prepare preliminary design and maps using AutoCAD and ArcGIS software.
