$98,724 - $126,612 Annually
Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is currently seeking a Project Development Engineer in Olympia, WA. The Project Development Engineer manages and oversees the engineering and construction for all Local Agency federal aid projects being developed throughout the state by local agencies. The main purpose of this position is to ensure that Local Agency federal aid projects are developed and constructed to meet local, state, and federal standards, and specifications. The Project Development Engineer has delegated authority for the Local Agency Bridge Program which includes the responsibility for over 4000 Local Agency bridges. This work includes ensuring that local agencies throughout the state are compliant with the National Bridge Inspection Program.
 
The Project Development Engineer is also responsible for the Local Programs Certification Acceptance Program which is a proficiency-based delegation of authority that allows local agencies to “self-perform” certain types of work on federal aid projects. The position is responsible to administer Project Management Reviews which evaluates every Local Agency federal aid project to ensure compliance with state and federal rules and guidelines. This position also recommends corrective actions when local agencies are found non-compliant.
 
The Project Development Engineer is responsible to set Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE) goals on all Local Agency projects, as necessary. This also includes necessary reporting on goal attainment. The Project Development Engineer is responsible for the contents of the Local Agency Guidelines (LAG) Manual which details rules, laws and procedures related to administering Local Agency federal aid projects.
