Job Description:

Are you interested in working for UDRI, a national leader in scientific and engineering research, serving government, industry and nonprofit customers? UDRI invites qualified candidates to apply for our Staff Computer Engineer opening!

This position will be responsible for working, as part of a diverse and skilled technical team, to write and test software in high-level languages, and to develop and test signal processing algorithms from concept to implementation. This position requires a bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of professional experience and may be expected to perform tasks at a higher level of independence when compared to an entry level position. Candidates, among other considerations with more preferred qualifications will likely be more successful in obtaining this position.



Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or other relevant engineering degree.
2. Proficiency with modern Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) software compilers and debuggers such as, VS Code, Visual Studio, Eclipse, GCC, GDB, or Similar.
3. Three years of successful professional experience developing, debugging, and documenting software using C, C++ and/or Java.
4. Due to the nature of this position, U.S. Citizenship is required
5. Eligibility to obtain a United States SECRET clearance (or higher) is required for ongoing employment in this position


Preferred Qualifications

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

1. Master’s Degree (or higher) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or other relevant engineering degree.
2. Demonstrated, successful professional experience programming in algorithm-level languages such as MATLAB/Simulink, Python or similar.
3. Demonstrated, successful professional experience with parallel programming using languages such as OpenCL and/or CUDA.
4. Demonstrated, successful professional experience with FPGA programming using languages such as VHDL.
5. Demonstrated, successful professional experience developing software to communicate and exchange information (e.g. commands, status, data) with hardware devices, sensors, and/or systems.
6. Demonstrated, successful professional experience installing, configuring, and working in Windows and Linux (preferred) environments.
7. Demonstrated, successful professional experience developing software applications specifically designed for use in multi-platform (e.g. Windows and Linux) environments.
8. Demonstrated, successful professional experience with source code version control systems such as Git (preferred), Subversion, or similar.
9. Demonstrated, successful professional experience with software development practices such as Agile, Scrum, or similar.
10 Demonstrated, successful professional experience with developing for embedded systems.
11 Demonstrated, successful professional experience with developing Linux kernel modules/Device Drivers.
12. Demonstrated, effective interpersonal skills
13. Active US SECRET (or higher) clearance.
