Job Description:

ODOT Graduate Program – Construction Inspector
Oregon Department of Transportation
Delivery and Operations Division – R3 Project Delivery
District 8 – Construction Office
White City

The role:

The ODOT Graduate Program is designed to help recent engineering graduates transition from student to full-time engineer. For up to 24 months, participants are provided rotational assignments within ODOT engineering disciplines. They are recognized as full-time, permanent employees, receiving a salary, a full benefits package and mentorship from a registered professional engineer (PE). This can provide up to two years’ qualifying time toward obtaining PE licensure. Following successful completion of the 24-month program, participants transition into a full-time regular assignment in the discipline and location of original hire.

Ideal candidates will have recently passed (or be prepared to take and pass) the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. Program training is provided through rotational assignments in various civil engineering disciplines such as construction, design or maintenance for a minimum of eighteen months and a maximum of two years. The program is open to all qualified applicants including current, qualified ODOT employees.

We are recruiting for a program candidate in White City to join our construction engineering team. This important work includes:

  • Interpreting contract plans and specifications and ensuring compliance.

  • Monitoring traffic control for public safety.

  • Inspecting and documenting contract work.

  • Conducting quality checks on materials.

  • Fostering positive relationships with other ODOT units, contractors, property owners and the public.

Applications will be considered from those who have graduated by June 2022.
