The role:  

 

Join the region 3 team in White City! As the senior construction coordinator, you will be a member of the project management crew while assisting the resident engineer in administering construction contracts and support the development of projects.

The goal of this recruitment is to fill this position at a civil engineering specialist 3 level. However, we encourage candidates who meet the minimum qualifications for a civil engineering specialist 2 ($4,607.00 - $7,145.00) to apply, as we may consider underfilling the position until the selected candidate meets the minimum qualifications for a civil engineering specialist 3. Underfill training will not exceed three years.

A day in the life:

  • Coordinate inspection activities on multiple projects and assist resident engineer with scheduling crew work effectively.

  • Serve as a liaison on project scoping teams and project development teams by providing technical expertise on construction concerns, design issues, long- and short-term needs.

  • Work with impacted local jurisdictions, property owners and businesses for resolution of project issues.

  • Coordinate a team of project management personnel to ensure assigned projects are being constructed in accordance with contract requirements and established policies and procedures.

  • Perform construction inspection as needed.

  • Schedule, attend and communicate final inspection results on projects.

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with project safety procedures and methods as identified in ODOT standard specifications, ODOT policy and safety standards and procedures. 

  • Track certification and training of crew members and provide input to the resident engineer for annual employee development plans.

  • May require long hours, differing shifts, overnight travel and call outs for emergencies.

  • May require work with dissatisfied contractors and the public.

  • Exposure to traffic and construction equipment, and adverse weather conditions including storms, snow, ice and rain.

  • May require walking long distances in a shift on paved surfaces or on very uneven terrain.

What we need for a Civil Engineering Specialist 3:

  • Seven (7) years of civil or transportation-related engineering experience. Two (2) years of this experience must have been field inspection or construction contract administration.

 

OR

 

  • A bachelor's degree in civil engineering or transportation-related engineering AND

  • Four (4) years of civil or transportation-related engineering experience.

 

OR

 

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

What we need for a Civil Engineering Specialist 2:

 

  • Five years of civil or transportation-related engineering or surveying experience. One year of this experience must have been independently planning and completing assignments.

OR

 

  • A bachelor's degree in civil engineering, surveying or transportation-related engineering and two years of civil or transportation-related engineering or surveying experience.

 

OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.
