Design structures to be as efficient as possible while maintaining building code compliance.
Evaluate multiple design options and strategies in order to identify the most efficient solution, accounting for the cost impact both in terms of constructability and amount of materials.
Perform routine site visits to evaluate the construction progress, identify deficiencies, recommend and give instruction for repairs.
Communicate with clients and other team members to understand project requirements.
Confidently exercise good engineering judgement to develop alternative solutions for site problems and unusual design situations.
4+ year’s experience in structural engineering design.
Bachelor's degree in structural or civil engineering
Master’s degree in structural or civil engineering considered an asset.
Ability to work independently with little supervision and coordinate information with team members.
The ideal candidate must be able to prioritize their own work in order to meet all deadlines.
Demonstrated understanding of engineering principles and theory and the ability to apply this knowledge to solve unique design scenarios and remedy field issues.
Ability to easily read and understand construction, erection and shop drawings from all disciplines. This requires extreme attention to detail in order to make sure all information and items are accounted from project inception through to completion.
Understanding and experience with structural steel design.
