We have an opportunity for a Lead Project Engineer to join our Conroe, TX team. The Lead Project Engineer will be responsible for the mechanical engineering and equipment selection for customer driven projects. They will lead the design for the plant based on the PFDs prepared by the Technology Group (R&D). The Lead Project Engineer will work cross-functionally with overseas and local departments (Project Management, Process & Technology, Plant Design (CAD), Electrical & Automation, Production, Supply Chain, and Commissioning) to achieve overall project goals. The Lead Project Engineer reports to the Engineering Team Leader in Conroe, TX.


Responsibilities

  • Order management. Assumption of responsibility for a safe design, quality of engineering, on time delivery and cost. Track total process engineering hours (costs). Involvement in drafting contracts with suppliers in terms of technical aspects. Schedule and control process engineering work packages. Manage project opportunities and risks, including resulting measures.
  • Machine/Component selection and specification. Calculation and specifications creation for the machines, components, and assemblies, including heat exchangers, pumps, vessels, compressors, valves, filters, etc.
  • Approve supplier designs and drawings.
  • Perform calculations such as line sizing, pressure drops, pressure relief valve sizing, etc.
  • Prepare Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID).
  • Design solutions. Develop design solutions for plants (including basic P&ID) based on the product portfolio. Implement design in compliance with laws and standards. Create solution drafts ready for detailing. Selection of key components.
  • Communication & exchange of information. Exchange of information with the other teams and specialist departments and suppliers (e.g., alignment of design with mechanical engineering & automation, supply chain and assembly, field assembly and commissioning; as well as suppliers). Internal and external representation of the project. Internal and external reporting. Documentation of agreements reached
  • Documentation & risk assessments. Prepare basic operating and maintenance instructions. Support development of functional descriptions and operation manuals. Support hazard analyses for individual machines as well as for the interlinked complete plant.
  • Contribute technical knowledge to other departments and projects in the role of a subject matter expert.


Qualifications

  • BS in Process or Chemical Engineering; Master’s Degree preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience as a Process Engineer or equivalent role, preferably in the Oil & Gas Industry.
  • Knowledge of tools such as Plant Engineering Software (e.g., Comos), PLM Software, ERP Software, MS Office, Special Calculation Tools and ability to adapt easily to new digital engineering platforms.
  • Experience working in a project team.
  • Knowledge of relevant guidelines, regulations, certifications, and norms.
  • Independent, proactive, flexible, and determined.
