Pentair's Industrial Solutions business unit is experiencing significant growth. One of Pentair’s strategic growth pillars is Biogas. The projects will be engineered and produced at our Pentair sites or at an approved supplier. Pentair - Sustainable Gas Solutions (SGS) is specialized within CO₂ recovery solutions and Biogas upgrading solutions. Pentair helps its clients to lower their carbon footprint and energy bills, and we currently serve customers in more than 150 countries worldwide. In order to achieve further growth, we will be hiring two Electrical Automation Engineers.

OBJECTIVE OF THE POSITION
The Electrical & Automation Engineer will be responsible for the electrical hardware engineering as well as the automation software for customer-focused projects. The Electrical & Automation Engineer will lead the Electrical and Automation design for the plant based on the P&IDs prepared by the Process Engineering Group.

The Electrical & Automation Engineer reports to the Engineering Team Leader in Conroe, TX.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Management of orders from sales & technology. Assumption of responsibility for a safe design, quality of engineering, on-time delivery and cost, planning of sub-assembly budgets, tracking total E&A engineering costs, involvement in drafting contracts with suppliers, scheduling and controlling of E&A engineering work packages, management of project opportunities and risks, including resulting measures.
  • Machine/Component selection and specification. Calculation for detailed specification of the electrical components and assemblies to be designed. Calculations to ensure guaranteed performance data of the plant will be achieved.
  • Design solutions. Develop design solutions for plants (including basic electrical diagrams, IT & communication system structures, PLC software concept, HMI concept, Cabinet Layout and Motor Controls) based on the product portfolio. Creation of solution drafts ready for detailing. Selection of key components. Implementation of the design in compliance with laws and standards.
  • Communication & exchange of information. Exchange of information with the other teams and specialist departments and suppliers. Internal and external representation of the project. Internal and external reporting. Documentation of agreements reached.
  • Documentation & risk assessments. Preparation of operating and maintenance instructions. Drawing up functional descriptions and operation manuals. Carrying out/supporting hazard analyses for individual machines, as well as for the interlinked complete plant.
  • Contributing technical knowledge to other departments and projects in the role of a subject matter expert.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS in Electrical or Automation Engineering; Master’s degree preferred.
  • ​Minimum 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in the Oil & Gas Industry. Internship or co-op experience is accepted.
  • Knowledge of tools such as Electrical Engineering Software (e.g., EPlan), PLC Software (preferable Siemens or Allen-Bradley), HIM I Software, AutoCAD, PLM Software, ERP Software, MS Office, Special Calculation/Programing Tools.
  • Knowledge of relevant guidelines (such as NFPA 70 and others) and norms (EU & North America), including relevant codes, regulations, and requirements for class 1, Division 1 and 2 locations.
  • Independent, proactive, flexible and determined.
  • Team-player who enjoys working closely with others and thrives in a team environment, including global teams.
  • Creative in finding solutions, with a strong commitment to quality.
  • Good communication skills with a customer-oriented and commercial mindset.
  • Analytical and able to maintain an overview of complex processes.
  • Travel up to 25% (includes international travel).
