Job Description:

The Supply Chain Manager is responsible for completing sourcing activities. Such activities shall include but are not limited to: contact with suppliers & vendors, identifying & evaluating new supply chain sources, managing schedules, and resolving issues related to the procurement.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the buying process for a given set of goods in line with specified cost, quality, and delivery targets;
- Apply sourcing policy, interface between supplier and entity with respect to specifications and budgets;
- Assess quotations from potential suppliers;
- Prepare purchase orders in line with final negotiations with selected suppliers and in line with organizational targets and requirements;
- Undertake research on and evaluate existing and new suppliers;
- Contact suppliers to resolve price, quality, delivery, or invoice issues;
- Gather supplier data, ensuring all necessary documentation is current and available;
- Assess and evaluate suppliers and participate in performance reviews to ensure contract compliance and manage performance improvement activities;
- Responsible for material control and management including chain of custody and appropriate documentation.  Manages direct deliveries and drop shipments;
- Manage problems and schedule changes and ensure changes are reflected within the ERP systems;
- Ensure the continuous supply of required goods and materials and communicate any supply problems which may pose a risk or impact on business operations;
- Research and evaluate areas of opportunity and reduce costs where possible;
- Regularly follow up on the delivery status of goods or services & report to management;
- Deliver briefs, updates, and reports as and when required;
- Develop ideas and strategies to improve operational efficiency, add value, aid business performance, and work towards a strategy of continuous improvement;
- Ensure compliance to company guidelines and purchasing policies and procedures during supplier negotiations and contracts award process. Explore alternate sources for goods and materials.

QUALIFICATIONS
- B.S. in Engineering, Science or related field;
- 0-2 years’ experience;
- Experience with ISO 9001 certification;
- Technical understanding of mechanics of materials and materials science;
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing processes;
- Experience with production fabrication techniques related to technical goods;
- Knowledge of the relevant industries associated with the supply base;
- Understanding of basic financial and economic concepts.  Demonstrate appropriate business acumen;
- Strong technology skills and experience with applications such as MS Office, integrated manufacturing software/ERP software preferred;
- Ability to exercise good judgment and make sound decisions;
- Strong attention to detail, commitment to quality, and organizational skills;
- Strong communication, technical writing, and presentation skills, especially as they relate to articulating complex concepts clearly. The individual should have strong interpersonal skills to be able to interface professionally with internal staff & external customers & vendors;
- Strong computation and analytical skills, as well as the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team;
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work with frequent interruptions and changing priorities, while meeting deadlines;
- Ability to function in a self-directed manner.
