A day in the life:
 
  • Provide expertise in transportation system and project level transportation engineering analysis to aid metropolitan area planning and transportation system planning.
  • Develop new methods and procedures for climate and greenhouse gas related transportation analysis.
  • Develop, implement and apply analysis tools and methods to evaluate transportation systems.
  • Develop guidelines, tools, methods and procedures to ensure consistent climate analysis throughout the agency.
  • Coordinate transportation, land use and integrated analysis activities with local, federal and state agencies and other ODOT divisions.
  • Participate and represent the agency on technical advisory committees and give oral presentations.
  • May require statewide travel and occasional work near highway traffic.

What we need:
A valid professional engineer's (PE) license in civil, structural, or transportation-related engineering and three (3) years of journey level professional engineer experience.
 
Note: If registered in another state, successful applicants will be required to obtain comity within six months of hire.

Note: You do not need to have all of these qualities to be eligible for this position.  
 
  • Experience or knowledge of transportation planning analysis.
  • Experience with transportation system and facility analysis using travel demand models, corridor analysis tools, the Highway Capacity Manual, the Highway Safety Manual, microsimulation or other tools.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects while scoping, assigning, reviewing and coordinating work for others.
  • Ability to manage, develop, implement and apply programs and facilitate technical groups.
  • Knowledge or experience with geographic information systems or data management tools.
  • Knowledge or experience with traffic data collection or experience coordinating the collection of data.
  • Ability to work as part of team with good communication and writing skills.
