Job Description:

This research technician serves the UDRI-DCC location. Their responsibilities will be to help manufacture composites using various processes including but not limited to autoclave and Rapidclave processing. They will also be responsible for lab and equipment maintenance duties as required.


Minimum Qualifications
• High school degree
• Proven interest and aptitude in basic mechanical skills
• Proven time management skills 
• Ability to read and follow multistep instructions
• Due to funding from US Government agencies, US citizenship is required for this position.


Preferred Qualifications

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

• Experience manufacturing advanced polymer matrix composites using autoclave and vacuum-bag-only processing techniques
• Experience preparing molds and tool surfaces for lay-up of composite materials
• Experience working with hand tools and measuring instruments
• Ability to perform work tasks with limited supervision


Special Instructions to Applicants

A federal court on December 7, 2021, issued a ruling that suspends the COVID-19 vaccine requirement that applies to federal contractors nationwide. With this development, the University will pause any enforcement action against employees who have not complied with the requirement to be fully vaccinated by Dec. 8, 2021 or to have requested an exemption to maintain their employment status.
