Job Description:

UDRI is seeking an assembly technician to support a team of engineers responsible for assembling novel space power systems. This role will support tooling and fixturing design, assembly procedure development, and facility layout for assembly operations.

The ideal candidate will:

• Assist in developing processes and procedures
• Have significant interaction with other engineers and technicians, quality personnel, product and systems designers, tool designers, Subject Matter Experts, and other stakeholders
• Assist in identifying and implementing process optimization and control methods to eliminate/prevent nonconformances, reduce schedule risk, and reduce costs
• Assisting in developing and maintaining work instructions (including specifications, engineering changes, quality, and tooling definition/requirements.)
• Communicate lessons learned to engineers

Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate must possess all of the following qualifications:
• Associate of Science (A.S.) or an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) in Engineering or Manufacturing Technology, or related technical field
• A minimum of 5 years of experience in a related technical position
• Technical experience in manufacturing, assembly, or testing activities
• High mechanical aptitude
• Ability to work both independently and a team member on focused engineering teams
• Ability to read and interpret models, technical drawings, and schematics
• Experience in 3D CAD modeling software or equivalent
• Ability to follow instructions and demonstrate attention to detail
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Effective written communication skills
• Proficiency with M.S. Office Suite – namely Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
• The successful candidate will be self-driven, an excellent communicator, have a strong background in participating in technical projects to successful completion
• The position will support multiple clients, including the government
• Due to the nature of this position, U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required

Preferred Qualifications

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

• Self-motivated & organized with the ability to work with minimal supervision
• Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and driven with solid mechanical skills
• Demonstrated problem solving, time management skills, and the ability to work to meet deadlines
• 5+ years of experience in a related technical position
• 4+ years of tooling/fixturing design
• ISO 9001 experience

A federal court on December 7, 2021, issued a ruling that suspends the COVID-19 vaccine requirement that applies to federal contractors nationwide.
