The role:  

Join our team as the Geo-Hydro-HazMat Manager for Region 2! In this position you will plan, assign and direct the daily activities of the unit. You will also be responsible to the Region 2 technical center manager for establishing and monitoring engineering design policy and procedures. Apply today!

A day in the life:

  • Plan, assign and coordinate the design and drafting for Hydraulics, Geology, GeoTech, Hazmat and Roadside Development for in-house projects.

  • Prepare Unit’s work plan budgets and monitor expenditures to assure compliance.

  • Directly supervise personnel, manage performance, resolve disputes, motivate and develop, mentor, coach and train.

  • Develop long and short range staffing and work scheduling plans to assure project teams are staffed with the necessary internal and/or external geo-hydro/hazmat resources to be successful in project delivery.

  • Responsible for ensuring geo-hydro/hazmat resources are scheduled to support maintenance, planning, local program and outsourcing programs as necessary.

  • Regulate work priorities and develop strategies to achieve and implement them.

  • Is responsible for and/or delegates contract administration duties for geo-hydro/hazmat consultant services contracts as necessary.

  • Ensure product quality control for geo-hydro/hazmat products conforms to the standards of practice.

  • Maintain appropriate interfaces with Technical Services section managers to ensure that units’ processes and standards are current as well as communicating delivery issues back.

  • Serve on Regional and Statewide teams as requested

What we need:

  • Six years of supervision, management, or progressively related experience

OR

  • Three years of related experience and a bachelor’s degree in a related field.

  • Strong technical knowledge of the various federal, state and local laws, regulations and permitting processes and work procedures applicable to geotechnical engineering and design/construction.

  • Strong program and resource management skills with proven ability to efficiently schedule and monitor multiple, concurrent work tasks.

  • Strong personnel manager with proven performance management skills and the ability to build a cohesive work unit.

  • Strong communicator, proven ability to negotiate technical solutions on behalf of the agency.

  • Experience with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, in order to be able to perform essential duties of this job.
